Home; Yr 7 Religious Education

The following blog has been created for you to help your education.  It is used to showcase your current work, as a means to easily submit homework and as a way to quickly access relevant information on the topics we are covering in class.

It is important that you remember that all work, comments etc you post in the blog will be sent to my e-mail for approval before they appear in the blog. This means 2 things;

1. That if you write something and it doesn’t appear straight away, just be patient! I will probably check my e-mail by the end of the day (remember I have to approve it before it gets posted).

2. If you put something in that is inappropriate, rude etc, I will be read it! This means that I can print it out and discuss the contents of your post with your year co-ordinator, DP and parents.

I think that this prayer means:

God our father, who is in heaven,
    Hidden be your name.
The Kingdom of heaven will come.
What has happened in heaven shall be done on Earth just like Heaven. Give us this day and our Eucharist.
    And forgive us our sins,
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation from the devil,
But protect us from evil. Amen.

I think this prayer means to the Christian faith:

Our Father, Who art in heaven, (God, the father is very important to the church)

Hallowed be Thy Name. (It is bad when saying God’s name, when not in hymn or prayer)
    Thy Kingdom come.
(We wait for the Kingdom of heaven to come)
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. (What is in heaven will become of Earth. We need the Body and Blood of Christ

And forgive us our trespasses,
(We are asking for forgiveness)
as we forgive those who trespass against us. (We forgive every person who neglects us)
And lead us not into temptation, (We ask to not fall into the bait of the devil)
but deliver us from evil. Amen. (Keep us with Christ and not take the devil’s path)

    …The Lords Prayer…
Many of Jesus’ teachings are taught by and from the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus teaches by both the 10 commandments and the Lord’s Prayer. The Lord’s Prayer is important because it shows the close love and connection we have with God. It shows the praise and love we do and should show towards our father and that he is willing to repent us, forgive and forget because he loves us so much.
‘Our Father’ states the well being and the nature and character of our lord. It shows the trust and faith we have in our lord and the way we think of him as being our leader and our guide to success. It recognizes the fatherhood of god and the brotherhood of man.
‘Which art in heaven’ explains the nature and characteristics of heaven. It shows the close connection between god and his people and that he will give them an even better life with him up in heaven.
‘Hallowed be thy name’ In the bible ‘name’ means the nature and essential points of a thing and looking right back through our faith hallowed means whole, wholesome holy, healed and healed. This means this sentence is saying Holy person or something sacred along those lines.
‘Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ This is showing that the good deeds and faithfulness towards god will be continued from heaven right through to the ends of the universe. This also shows that anything done in heaven id possible on earth’s soil.
‘Give us this day our daily bread’ This is the expectation that God will provide us with all aspects and sources that we need to live and the love and loyal that will help us get through our difficult times.
‘Forgive Us Our Trespasses As We Forgive Them That Trespass Against Us’ This is asking for God to forgive us when we sin and we will forgive who ever and whenever someone trespasses (sins against us)
‘Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil’ This is saying that god will lead us away from sin and evil so we are not caught up and tempted. It is also saying that we should avoid being tempted and turning bad by respecting, loving and obeying Gods commands.

    The Lords Prayer

The Our Father is a prayer devote to God. It stands for all of what Christians believe in and is most likely the most common prayer in the Christian Church. “ Our Father who art in heaven.” This means that God is our Father/creator and lives in heaven watching over us. “ Hallowed be thy name.” This means sacred holy name. “Thy kingdom come.” Meaning that we will go to heaven in the afterlife. “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Which means that his will shall be done just like in heaven. “Give us this day, our daily bread. “ Which means give us food and drink. “And forgive us our trespasses.” Meaning forgive our sins. “As we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen”

“Prayer doesn’t change things, it changes people”

I think that this phrase means that prayer is special, and God sends a calling to people. The people pray to God to know if they have been chosen, but prayer doesn’t change things, like God has chosen you, it changes people, like if you become a priest. This phrase means that if you pray for money, money won’t start raining down for you, but if you pray to be a better person, it could in turn lead you to a better life, when you have more money.
